CGI.Backgrounds is pleased to share the newest way to access our content. We’ve created a desktop application, the CGI.B Connect app, that allows users to access our content and launch our HDRi Maps and Backplates directly into the Unreal Engine.
After extensive testing in a private closed Beta, we are launching the CGI.B Connect app in an open Beta. Anyone may now download and begin to test and use the app.
Why Use the CGI.B Connect App
Our premium HDRi Maps contain extensive lighting data and visuals at a 30k resolution.
We’ve noticed that loading an HDRi Map into the Unreal Engine, setting up basic parameters, and configuring the software for Image-Based Lighting can often be time-consuming.
The CGI.B Connect app automates this process, allowing you to load our content and configure basic settings quickly.
That lets you get right to implementing your creative vision rather than spending lots of time on basic configuration.
Getting Started
It all starts with creating an account on CGI.Backgrounds website. You’ll use this account on both the website and the CGI.B Connect app.
This single account allows you to access and create lightboxes of your favorite content, see your purchase history, and access all your other account history using one ID, whether you’re using the CGI.B Connect App or the website.
If you purchase an HDRi Map or Backplate in the CGI.B Connect app, it will be available in your account on the website, and vice versa.

App Updates
Because the CGI.B Connect app is in Beta, we are still releasing updates every few weeks. The CGI.B Connect App will notify you when they are available.

Beta Tester agrees that the Beta Application versions are pre-release and not at the level of performance or compatibility of a final, generally available CGI Backgrounds Product offering. The Beta Application may not operate correctly and may be substantially modified before the first commercial shipment or withdrawn. In no event shall CGI Backgrounds be liable for any damage arising from the use of or inability to use such Beta Application (including, without limitation, loss of data), even if CGI Backgrounds has been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Ownership. All rights, title, and interest in and to the Beta Application, including, without limitation, any improvements, modifications, and enhancements made thereto, are and shall remain in CGI Backgrounds.
Feedback. CGI Backgrounds may require Beta Tester to complete surveys and or provide suggestions, comments, technical information, evaluation results, or other feedback concerning the functionality and performance of the Beta Application, including without limitation identifying potential errors and/or improvements ("Feedback") to CGI Backgrounds in connection with this Agreement. Feedback and other information that Beta Tester provides to CGI Backgrounds in connection with this Agreement may be used by CGI Backgrounds to improve or enhance its products and, accordingly, CGI Backgrounds shall have a non-exclusive, perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free, worldwide right and license to use, reproduce, disclose, distribute, modify, and otherwise exploit such Feedback and information for any purpose and in any medium or product without restriction. Such right and license shall survive any termination or expiration of this Agreement for any reason. Beta Tester covenants that it will not assert against CGI Backgrounds or any of its directors, officers, employees, subcontractors, or agents any claim or action arising from the use or exploitation of the Feedback by CGI Backgrounds.
