December 2024 Artist of the Month: Andrei (Andrei.Low) Coroi

With many renders, the background imagery is more of a supporting player than a key part of the scene.
Sometimes, though, the perfect location pairs up with the perfect digital twin, and you get a render that looks unlike anything else. That’s the case with a recent series from our December 2024 Artist of the Month .
Digital creator Andrei (Andrei.Low) Coroi , founder of Above the Pyramids , recently shared a series of renders of the Cadillac Escalade IQ 2025 on his Behance.
The Escalade has a futuristic, streamlined design, and Coroi’s choice of location perfectly complements that.
For his renders, Coroi chose to situate the Escalade in the courtyard outside a building with dramatic, striking architecture.
The most striking feature of the building is the warm orange and yellow tones in its exterior. These provide an almost copper-colored look to the background, which is simultaneously reflective, with a great deal of glass integrated into the building’s structure.
In the renders, the futuristic design of this building pairs perfectly with the Escalade, while the warmth of the building's tones provides a powerful pop of color that makes the render stand out.
Coroi shows us the Escalade in a variety of locations within the scene. We see the vehicle in full light, partial shadow, and even with its front portion partially obscured as it appears to drive through the scene.
Small details in the architecture – which Coroi chose to retain – add realism. A surveillance camera on the wall, a drain on the floor, and reflections of door signage in the windows add an authenticity to the scene that makes it feel like we’re standing right in front of the vehicle.
Coroi’s decision to include these instead of editing them out adds to the photorealistic impact of the renders.
In his post, Coroi walks us through the rendering process, showing the placement of the vehicle's digital twin for each of the final scenes.
Lighting the scene like this, with dramatic shadows and such distinctive color (not to mention the reflections from all those windows), would be incredibly challenging if you had to do it manually.
Thankfully, Coroi was able to use backplates and RAY.HDRi Maps from CGI.Backgrounds in his rendering process.
Our RAY HDR technology perfectly captured the dramatic and distinctive lighting in the scene, and our high-resolution backplates provided print-quality visuals for this advertising-focused campaign.
Our massive catalog of over 7,000 real-world locations also meant that Coroi could choose the perfect, unique location to meet his artistic vision.
We’re big fans of Coroi’s work, and we’re honored to have been part of this compelling project – and to choose Coroi as our December Artist of the Month !
