CGI.Backgrounds' Artist of the Month for August 2024: Caio Vinicius

When 3D artists create an automotive render for an advertising client, they need to keep multiple factors in mind.
Of course, like all artists, they want to produce a compelling render that pushes technical limits and expresses their unique creativity.
But in advertising projects specifically, artists also need to work with the constraints of a client and create renders that are not only technically impressive but also depict their client’s vehicle in a positive, aspirational light.
In short, advertising renders need to be both visually stunning, and also need to help clients quickly convey to customers what makes a vehicle special and worth purchasing.
Our August Artist of the Month, Caio Vinicius, is a master of combining artisanship and aspiration in his advertising-focused automotive renders.
With an 11-year career in the advertising space, Vinicius has created renders showcasing countless vehicles for major automotive brands worldwide.
In a recent post on his Behance page , Vinicius showed his process for creating advertising-focused renders, with a series focused on the BMW X7.
Vinicius’ renders show the X7 in a variety of real-world driving scenarios. A blurred motion render shows the vehicle passing by a modern building, emphasizing its performance during everyday driving.
Vinicius also shows the X7, beautifully lit from behind, in a desert setting. This render demonstrates the rugged side of the vehicle, which is appealing to customers of full-size SUVs who might be considering the X7.
An artistic render in the series shows the X7 from above, with a slightly blurred railing in the foreground. The inclusion of the foreground element makes the image feel like a cellphone photo, increasing its authenticity.
This render also shows a person standing next to the vehicle. Crucially, the person’s face is turned away from the camera. This visual anonymity allows the viewer to imagine themselves in that person’s place, letting them imagine what it would be like to own the X7.
Finally, Vinicius presents the X7 in a classic setting–a winding mountain road with soft light. This classic presentation connects the X7 to other, familiar advertising images, helping the viewer to mentally compare the X7 to other SUVs they’ve seen presented in similar surroundings.
Overall, Vinicius combines technical skill with a keen understanding of what makes consumers love and connect with specific vehicles.
Throughout his renders, Vinicius makes excellent use of CGI.Backgrounds RAY.HDRi Maps. Our HDRi Maps allow Vinicius to place the X7 in a variety of real-world locations, and to quickly and accurately light his vehicle digital twins in a way that creates an instant connection with potential vehicle buyers.
Congrats to Vinicius on winning the title of our August Artist of the Month! You can see more of his work on his Behance page , and learn more about him on his LinkedIn.
